A Moment of Silence For Keith Suppe Who Passed Away

Legit Reviews just found out that Keith Suppe, who was one of our writers back in 2005, recently passed away due to some health issues. Keith wrote a number of reviews for LR back in 2005 and he passed away before 50, which is way too young. Keith often told me about his crazy life when he worked at Studio 54 in New York at it's peak and how it changed his life forever. He was a good guy and his mark on the hardware industry will live on.

I started life late, as I left school at a young age, due to some family problems, and I guess wanting to rebel against my family's belief money meant everything. Being young and wild I loved the NYC nightlife, and ended up working lighting systems, and sound systems at various dance-clubs. I awoke at 24-years old, from what was really 10-years of addiction, and trauma associated with it. I guess hanging out in NYC after-hour night clubs, i was living in a surreal world. A lot of Artists, and people with money, all wanting to escape in music, drugs, and drinking. It took it's toll, and I knew I was getting old, and feeling very bad about myself. I got into some very intense therapy, and immediately pursued my education.

[Rumour] ATI Evergreen is “1.6x faster” as HD 4870? (UPDATED)

Fudzilla reports that ATI’s Evergreen card will end up “1.6 times faster” (Read: 1.6 times as fast, please read update below) than the previous generation HD 4870. It is not mentioned which card exactly in the Evergreen family - but we will assume Cypress XT, which is the direct successor to the HD 4870.

The 1.6x rumoured is also expected to be a best case scenario, and in reality it may end up slower in few games. The Cypress chip was previously rumoured to include 1600 shaders, which is a direct 2x jump from RV770, with over 2 TFflops of processing muscle.

“Users loved our LGA1366 special edition of the NH-U12P cooler, but many asked whether they could get the same premium package with dual fans for other sockets as well”, explains Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. “We thought that the impending launch of Intel's new Lynnfield CPUs would be a great opportunity to come up with a new special edition that not only supports the new socket but also offers the multi-socket compatibility of the original NH-U12P, so the NH-U12P SE2 was born.”
