Windows 7 Public Beta Available Now!

Microsoft has made the Windows 7 Beta available to the public. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer promised attendees during his keynote speech at this year's CES that the beta will be available soon. Keep your eye on the Microsoft Download Center since the download will be available to only the first 2.5 million people who want it. Microsoft will also be releasing Windows Server 2008 R2 sometime today as well.

After its disastrous Windows Vista operating system was panned near-universally, the company has spent many months and hours talking to businesses and consumers about what theyd like in the new operating system. There certainly are a lot of nifty new features, including the ability to perform touch-based tasks. And the new OS will be a kindler, gentler force to your PC, taking up less resources after Microsoft engineers jettisoned legacy code and rebuilt the OS as a much cleaner piece of software.
